I have always been a coffee drinker. Each morning when I would get up I would make a pot a coffee to drink a cup while I got ready for work and would take another serving in a to go cup for the drive into work. Through out the morning I would have coffee at my desk. I had repeated this pattern for 25 years, and then I discovered premium tea. I had tried tea several times, but never found it as satisfying to drink as coffee.
One of my co-workers started drinking a tea blend that had a wonderful aroma. He said that he was given the premium tea as a gift from his daughter. This particular herbal tea was a loose blend that he placed in a tea leaf ball to steep. He offered to steep me a cup to try. I knew by the time that I finished that cup of tea that I was hooked.
My coworker found out what store his daughter had purchased the tea. It was a small specialty shop that I had seen, but had never gone into. I stopped at the shop on my way home from work. I was pleasantly surprised to find that in addition to premium tea they also sold many gadgets and accessories for the serious tea drinker. I explained to the sales clerk that I have always been a coffee drinker and that this was my first time purchasing specialty tea. I told the clerk that I had used tea bags in the past that I had purchased in the grocery store.
She explained that premium tea did also come in tea bags and there are different grades. Some of the premium tea is considered a gourmet tea and is featured to compliment certain foods. Most of the varieties of premium tea can be made into iced tea, but there are certain blends that are recommended over others.
I noticed one display that was off by itself. The clerk explained that these were all medicinal teas. This line of herbal tea is sold to help alleviate certain ailments. I could not believe the variety of herbs and tea leaves that made up this section of the store. The clerk said that many people swear by the healing effects of a good premium tea. She stated that she uses the medicinal teas to treat cold and flu symptoms. She likes that she does not experience any side effects when using the medicinal tea.
I bought a variety of premium tea to make at home and work. I picked up a special variety to give to my co worker as a thank you for introducing me to tea.
